When should a disciplinary hearing be held?

The stages of the disciplinary procedure are:

  1. investigate the misconduct
  2. try and resolve it informally. Please note that this stage may fail or may not be possible
  3. hold a disciplinary hearing
  4. inform the employee of the outcome
  5. hold an appeal, if necessary

A hearing should only be held after an investigation and after you’ve tried to resolve the issue informally.
