In light of her win of Top 30 Under 30 we recently caught up with rradar’s HR Business Partner, Heather Brown and got to know her a little more.
1. Can you tell us a bit about what the award means to you?
For me, it is a real sense of pride that people have seen the work I do and felt it was worth acknowledging, I’m very touched that people took the time out of their day to put me forward for something so great.
2. What advice would you give to someone who is starting out in your field?
To say yes to every opportunity given and don’t be afraid of throwing yourself in at the deep end!
3. How do you see your career progressing with rradar?
In a business partnership role, there is so much scope. As the business expands and we take on new challenges, I’m excited to see where the next chapter of our journey at rradar takes us.
4. Do you have any hobbies?
I don’t know how I find time for it, but I have a horse and a dog, play squash, tennis, mountain bike, rock climb and paddleboard!
5. What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
For me, this year has been both the most challenging and the most rewarding. The 30 under 30 award is a huge one for me, and I also bought my first house which is a great achievement! Overall though, I would have to say my greatest achievement is being surrounded by the most amazing friends and colleagues who support and inspire me every day.
6. What do you enjoy most about your role at rradar?
I love that no two days are the same. Every day is challenging and fast–paced but the environment at rradar means you feel empowered to tackle everything that comes your way!
7. Who is someone you admire?
My Dad. He valued experiences and knowledge above anything material and had a huge impact on everyone around him. I know without a doubt that he is incredibly proud of everything I have done and will continue to do.
8. Top 3 people you’d like to have dinner with (alive or dead)?
David Attenborough, Margot Robbie, Roger Federer.
9. And what are you eating?
I love this question! It’s very off-menu. I would have Mussels to start, Guineafowl for main, Camembert for side, sticky toffee pudding for dessert and wine to drink!!
10. What is the best advice you have ever received?
“To not have any regrets in life, because at that moment in time it was exactly what you wanted. My favourite movie quote is ‘have courage and be kind’ and that is something I also like to live by.”
11. What is your career highlight/s at rradar?
There have been so many! From organising social events, welcoming new businesses and colleagues to introducing new initiatives and systems. Most recently, a real highlight for me was the launch of our new Employee Playbook which is a totally fresh approach and challenges what a traditional handbook may look like. The most rewarding part of my job though is helping others and seeing what they go on to achieve.
12. Lastly what would you say is your favourite film?
The Book Thief.
