Recognition for rradar’s people

Our people are the foundation on which all everything we have done has been built. We could not have done what we have done without them. We are very proud of our achievements as a team in the community, our industry and our region, and this year, we have received a number of awards and accolades that recognise this; it is rewarding and heartening to acknowledge, and makes what we do worthwhile.

  • Our Founder and CEO, Gary Gallen, was named in the LDC Top 50 Ambitious Leaders. For a man whose ambition led him to create rradar all the way back in 2012, it is a fitting tribute and recognition not just of his achievements so far, but of his potential to continue to reshape the way the legal sector operates.
  • Three of our colleagues were nominated for the Women and Diversity in Law Awards 2025; Davina Gillyon, Chief Commercial Officer in the Law Firm Leader of the Year (National/Regional) and Woman of the Year categories; and Nkolika Ohaegbu and Mariam Shah as Mentor of the Year and Rising Star respectively. We wait to see whether they have been successful in early 2025.
  • And with our roots in Yorkshire, we were proud to have joined hundreds across the regional legal community at the Yorkshire Legal Awards, shortlisted in four categories – two of which celebrated the quality and success of our colleagues, Stephanie Thirwell (Partner of the Year Finalist), and rradar Trainee Solicitor, Chloe Crooks (Trainee Solicitor of the Year Finalist). At this event, rradar was also recognised in the LawTech Initiative of the Year and Law Firm of the Year (Medium) categories. It was a special and memorable occasion for our team in celebrating its successes.
  • Associate Solicitor Priya Cunningham was recognised as a finalist for the ‘Up and Coming’ award at the Herald Law Awards, which recognise the best in Scotland’s national legal talent.

We look forward to early 2025 as we go into the year as a finalist for the Yorkshire Business of the Year awards in the Large Business category, as well as the Yorkshire Leadership Awards, where rradar CEO Gary Gallen is shortlisted for Company Leader (101+ employees) and Chief Commercial Officer Davina Gillyon is shortlisted for Professional Services Leader.

Recognition for rradar’s legal specialisms

Our legal credentials have been recognised not only through awards, but also by rradar’s rankings in the two most notable and prestigious legal directories, Chambers & Partners and Legal 500. Shining a spotlight on our legal expertise across various departments and lawyers who have been recognised for their reputation and quality of their work, this recognition underlines the strength and breadth of rradar’s legal capabilities with a team of industry-renowned lawyers and advisors.

We have also been recognised across a number of industry-specific programmes, including the Cyber Insurance Europe Awards, in which rradar has been selected as a finalist as Law Firm of the Year. Testimony to rradar’s specialist Cyber, Data and Information Law team, led by Neil Topham, these awards seek to recognise and celebrate companies, teams and individuals for excellence, innovation and sector-wide contributions in cyber insurance.  The winner will be announced in February 2025.

rradar’s Glasgow team has received wins at both main awards for the Scottish legal sector: the Scottish Legal Awards (Criminal Defence Team of the Year) and Innovation Award at the Herald Law Awards.

Unrivalled digital expertise

Technology is at the heart of our business. Our proprietary technology solutions are designed to help our clients to access the information they need to prevent and manage risk.

  • In recognition of this, we were shortlisted in the Spectator Economic Innovator Awards, and were delighted to be one of the finalists at the Leeds Digital Festival. We were also shortlisted in the British Legal Technology Awards and we were ranked in the Tech North Northern Tech Top 100 again (we have been ranked for seven out of the preceding eight years).
  • At the UK Content Awards this year, our Content team won Silver in the Best Content Series Category, as featured on our digital products including rradarstation and rradargrace, which support our clients to access legally verified information, templates and guidance from wherever they are.
  • Finally, and also driving innovation within rradar, is our Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the University of Leicester, characterised by collaboration across academia, commerce and graduates. rradar was awarded a ‘double KTP’, valued at £400,000 to support the creation of a cutting-edge system that integrates data science, AI and machine learning.
